Gauteng police are investigating a case of concealment of birth after the body of a day-old baby boy was found floating in the Jukskei River.
The body was washed down river and caught in a net used to collect rubbish floating in the water.
Police have called on anyone with information to come forward.
Police have opened a concealment of birth case after the body of a day-old baby boy was found floating in the Jukskei River in Waterval, Midrand.
The body was found on Thursday.
According to Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst, the body was washed down the river.
“Reports from the scene allege that the one-day-old male had been washed down river and was caught in a net used to collect rubbish floating in the water.
“The patient was assessed on scene by a Netcare 911 Emergency Care practitioner and found to have no signs of life and sadly declared deceased on the scene. Circumstances leading up to the incident will be investigated by the relevant authorities,” said Herbst.
