A fresh protest erupted in Katsina State on Thursday following recent attacks by bandits in several communities of the state.
At least 40 people were said to have been killed in Faskari local government area by unknown gunmen on Tuesday.
Barely two days after residents of the area council protested insecurity in the state, some youths in Yankara, which is a community under Faskari LGA, reportedly staged another protest today.
The youths were said to have blocked the Zaria-Sokoto Federal highway to register their frustration to the relevant authorities.
The Katsina attack came hours after Boko Haram insurgents reportedly killed 81 people at Faduma Kolomdi village in Borno State.
The insurgents kidnapped the village head and six others during the attack.
President Muhammadu Buhari, had in a statement condemning the Borno attack, said the “primordial nature of the killings is particularly shocking because it happened not long after the Ramadhan and Eid, and the country is preparing to celebrate the Democracy Day.”
