There was pandemonium Wednesday morning when some angry youths in Ibadan attacked the headquarters of Oyo State Police Command in Eleiyele while protesting the escape of Sunday Sodipe, a self confessed serial killer who was arrested in Akinyele local government area of the State but escaped from Police custody.
CRIMECHANNELS gathered that the protest was initially peaceful and that the Commissioner of Police Nwachukwu Enwonwu, had attended to them promising that the suspect would be re arrested.
However, some of the youths went wild and started attacking the Police headquarters and throwing dangerous objects like stones at Policemen. But the police promptly stopped it.
Confirming the incident, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olugbenga Fadeyi, said some students protested, saying “The CP and other senior police officers attended to them and answered all their questions.
“You know students now, some of them got out of control but we were able to handle the situation professionally. They have gone back.”
