The National Examinations Council (NECO) has dismissed 19 of its staff for forging their certificates.
Their dismissal was authorized by the Governing Board of NECO after vetting the report of a Employees Certificates Verification Committee setup by the council at its 52nd common assembly.
The Head, Info and Public Relations Division of NECO, Azeez Sani, disclosed this in an announcement on Tuesday in Abuja.
The assertion stated the committee wrote the establishments a few of the affected staff claimed to have attended and the establishments denied issuing them certificates.
It reads: “The Governing Board of the Nationwide Examinations Council (NECO) has authorized the dismissal of 19 employees from her service for certificates forgery.
A Employees Certificates Verification Committee constituted by the Administration carried out its project diligently by inviting some employees with questionable credentials to seem earlier than it, throughout which the affected employees attested that their certificates had been solid.
The committee additionally contacted the Colleges and Establishments which the affected employees claimed to have attended and the Colleges and Establishments denied having certificated them.
At its 52nd Common assembly, the Governing Board of the Council vetted the report of the Certificates Verification Committee and authorized the dismissal of the affected employees.
It will be recalled that the Governing Board had at its 17th Further Strange assembly in November, 2019, additionally authorized the dismissal of 70 employees for Certificates forgery.
It added that the certificates verification train which is on-going is geared toward sanitising the system.
