The Rivers state Police Command is yet to react five days after the murder of a middle aged man in Eleme Local government area of the state.
One Mike Ejire from Aleto Community in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State was reportedly killed by a man on police uniform.
Ejire was alleged to have been killed by a Police Officer in Aleto after an altercation ensued over four thousand naira debt he was owing a lady in the area.
The lady is alleged to have reported the matter to the officer who instead of amicably resolving the matter confronted him.
However, eyewitnesses say in the course of resolving the matter an argument ensued between Ejire and the Officer who used the booth of his rifle to hit the man’s chest repeatedly until he slumped and vomited blood which led to his death.
Meanwhile, since the report of the incident in the media, the Police is yet to make a statement.
Spokesman of Rivers State Police Command, DSP Nnamdi Omoni who was contacted before the report was published said the command is yet to be briefed on the incident.
Omoni also promised to contact the Divisional Police officer in charge of Eleme to confirm the incident.
