Zlatan Ibile: How I almost ‘carried laptop’ after girls frustrated me

Omoniyi Temidayo, a Nigerian singer better known as Zlatan Ibile, has opened up on how he almost “carried laptop” during his early days after girls frustrated him over wealth.

A video clip, apparently from his Instagram live session, has now gone viral, in which the 26-year-old narrated how hard times left him considering alternatives just to become wealthy.

In Pidgin English, it is commonplace to find inexplicit expressions like “yahoo yahoo” and people making reference to the laptop as a major tool often used by internet fraudsters to carry out scams.

Zlatan also recounted how he had suffered a great deal such that it was only when he started earning enough to buy a car and other luxuries that ladies found him attractive for relationship.

“I almost carried laptop, I almost carried laptop, I was frustrated. I just thank God. Girls show me pepper o,” the singer can be heard saying in Pidgin English.

“Omo na fine boy dey get girlfriend, I nor gree see girlfriend, dem show me pepper. Na wen I win car, I get girlfriend.”

Although he has been in the music scene longer, Zlatan gained recognition after releasing ‘My Body’, his 2017 hit track, featuring Olamide, followed by his feature on the 2018 hit song ‘Able God’.

He would later drop ‘Zanku’, a song that was accompanied by a dance routine of the same name — partnering with the likes of Davido, Naira Marley, and Burna Boy in subsequent projects.

Zlatan also made headlines in 2019 after he was arrested alongside Naira Marley as the latter featured him on ‘Am I a Yahoo Boy‘, a controversial single alleged to have upheld internet fraud.

“Because of my story, background, and the type of upbringing I had, people love me on the street. They feel I was less privileged and had fewer opportunities,” the record label boss had earlier  said
